U.M.A. British Open Kata
Championships
Sunday March 4th 2007
The First U.M.A. British Open Kata Championships were an overwhelming success,
with Competitors from England, Scotland and Wales, hence making these
Prestigious Championships a truly British affair.
The U.M.A. would like to thank all the Coach's, Competitors, Judges, Officials,
Spectators and Supporters alike for making the Championship a resounding
success.
Infact due to the quantity of competitor entries received for the Championships
we had to split one Category and create a completely New Category prior to the
Championships as it was massively over subscribed, hence instead of the original
18 Categories, we now have 19 categories overall of which we ran with on the Day
of The Championships.
Congratulations to all of the New U.M.A. British Open Individual and Team Kata
Champions, Gold Medallists and Title Holders for 2007 who won they're respective
Kata Categories at the Championships, and well done to everyone who took part,
without you all, it would not have been the success it was.
And Congratulations to Vale Karate Club for Winning the "U.M.A. British Open
Kata Championship Club Trophy Award" for gaining the most 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
points on the Day, with San Gai Karate Club coming in a close second, Chase Wado
Kai and Liphook Karate Club coming in together joint third, so well done and
congratulations to you all.
We must also express our gratitude and sincere thanks to everyone who took part
in these our first Prestigious British Open Kata Championships, and thankyou to
everyone for getting to the venue, registering an being ready on time, as we
started the Championships on time, and due to the smooth running and the help of
the Spectators, Competitors, Coach's, Kata Judges and Officials etc, we
even finished earlier than anticipated time of 5.00pm, now that is truly a
magnificent feat, so the UMA thank you all for your superb co-operation.
We look forward to seeing you all again soon, and look forward to seeing you all
again along with all the British Champions and Title Holders defending and
fighting for titles next year in 2008.
